Focus on Christ !!!!!!
Do you focus on the negative things more the positive?
Numbers 13: 25-30 At the end of forty days they returned from spying out the land. 26 And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 And they told him, "We came to the land to which you sent us; it flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 Yet the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large; and besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amal'ekites dwell in the land of the Negeb; the Hittites, the Jeb'usites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan." 30 But Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, "Let us go up at once, and occupy it; for we are well able to overcome it." 31 Then the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we." 32 So they brought to the people of Israel an evil report of the land which they had spied out, saying, "The land, through which we have gone, to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants; and all the people that we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim); and we seemed to ourselves like grdonkeyhoppers, and so we seemed to them."
God told the Israelites that the promise land was rich and fertile. The spies reported plenty and pretty good reason for entering the land. But they could not stop focussing on their fears. When facing tough decisions don't let negative things cause you to lose your focusof the positive. Weigh both sides carefully. Don't let potential difficulties blind you to God's power to deliver and guide you. The spies returned and the people had to make a decisionweather or not to retreat or enter in to the promise land that God had promised them. They chose to retreat and were condemned to wandering 40 years in the desert. The land of Canaan was beautiful land flowing with mild and honey it's hillside was lush with figs and nut trees, it was the land God had promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacoc. But because the of the Israelites fear of the inhabitants of the land they were denied entrance to the promise land.
But there was one who voiced himself very loudly Caleb he was willing to go and was not afraid. Even though he was an unpopular opinion. He was willing to take the unpopular stand to do as God commands. To be effective when you go against the crowd you must have 1) the facts Caleb had seen the land 2) have the right attitude Caleb trusted God's promise to Israel the land 3) state clearly what you believe Caleb did verse 30 But Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, "Let us go up at once, and occupy it; for we are well able to overcome it."
A lot of times we are unable to recieve the promise of God because of fear of the unknown or the unfamiliar rebuke the spirit of fear and let the devil know that God has not given you the spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind and go in and possess the land that God has promised because if the enemy rises up against you. He is rising up against God and He will lift up a standard for you and remember if he called you to it he will bring you through it for the battle is not yours but the Lord..
Keep your focus on God and not youself...
Judges 15:18- 19 And he was very thirsty, and he called on the LORD and said, "Thou hast granted this great deliverance by the hand of thy servant; and shall I now die of thirst, and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?" 19 And God split open the hollow place that is at Lehi, and there came water from it; and when he drank, his spirit returned, and he revived. Therefore the name of it was called En-hakkor'e; it is at Lehi to this day.
Sampson was physically and emotionally exhauted. After a great victory (sound familiar after you've preached, won a victory over the enemy) his attitude declined quickly into self-pity "Must I now die of thrist?" Emotionally, we are most vulnerable after a great effort or when faced with real physical needs. Severe depression often follows great achievement so don't be surprised after a personal victory. During these times of vulnerability, avoid the temptation to think God owes you something for your efforts.I believe that this was the hand of God to keep Samson from thinking to highly of himself and that he was merely a man liable to the same calamities as other men. It was God's strength, his wisdom, and his power that gave you the victory in the first place. Concentrate on keeping you focus on God instead of yourself for greater is He that is with in than he that is in the world God is the real source behind all that you do for the kingdom. En-hakkor'e the name Sampson gave to the fountain of water name which mean's (the well that cried) this was to keep him in remembrance of both his distress which occdonkeyioned him to cry out and God's favor in answer to his cry.
How we loose our focus 2 Corinthians 11:3
3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
The Corinthians sincere and pure devotion to Christ was being threatened by false teaching. Paul did not want the believer's to lose their single-minded love for Christ. Keeping Christ first in our lives can be very difficult when we have so many distractions threatening to sidetrack our faith. Just as Eve lost her focus by listening to the serpent, we too can lose our focus by letting our lives become overcrowded and confused. Is there anything that weakens your committment to keep Christ first in your life? How can you minimize the distractions that threaten your devotion to Him?
The Corinthian believers fell for smooth talk and messages that sound good and seemed to make sense. Today there are many false teachings that sound good and seemed to make sense. Don't believe someone simply because he or she sounds like an authority or says words you like to hear. When hearing a word from a speaker always check his or her teachings against God's word. The bible should be your authoritative guide. Don't listen an "authoritative preacher" who contradicts God's word.
